for additional questions.
I
am not in the United States of America.
Not a problem. We can accept books from
any country and in any language. The transfer
of payments becomes a bit more involved
but we can handle it for you. We currently
have two options for payments internationally;

your royalties. International shipping

Yes. Simply prepare your book file in
a recent version of Microsoft Word or

Absolutely. You can include an unlimited
number of tables, photos, graphics and
charts. Your tables should be made using
a spreadsheet program (like Microsoft
Excel) or as a table within Microsoft
Word. (or WordPerfect 7). Tables should
not be made manually by using
tabs or the space bar to space out entries,
but by using the Table feature of the
programs.
What
about footnotes, page numbers and headers
and footers?
Bookstand Publishing will set the page numbers when
we format the book file. If you want a
specific header and/or footer, please
let us know. As for footnotes, you must
use the built in tool for footnotes. None
of these should be manually inserted.
We will return a manuscript for correction
if these are inserted manually. Optionally,
you can pay $60 per hour for us to correct
this for you.
What
about pictures?
We
encourage photos or drawings as long as
they are part of the document. Picture
size and number of pictures will effect
the "downloadability" of your
eBook. See
book specifications for print requirements.
Will
you scan my pictures for me?
Yes, for an additional fee. However, you
can use a local service like Kinkos or
a local business service company to scan
your photos. The photos should be scanned
at a minimum of 300 dpi resolution.
How
many graphics can I include in my book?
As many as it takes to tell your story.
You can include an unlimited number of
graphics, photos, tables and charts.
Can
I publish my book in landscape format
instead of portrait?
Absolutely. Simply set the page size accordingly.
Due to size limitations, our 7 x 10 and
8.5 x 11 book perfect bound book sizes
cannot be published in landscape format.
How
should I price the eBook version of my
book?
For eBooks we highly recommend that you
price the work so it is competitive. To
be competitive your book in eBook form
must be less than $10 in most cases, unless

information. We will only recommend a
price range but the final decision is
yours. If you choose to change the price
in the future that can be done by contacting
support@bookstandpublishing.com .

this wholesale
order system.

errors can will hurt the sales of your
book. We will have one of our editors

polish your book. After the task is completed,
you will have an opportunity for a final
review prior to printing the book. The
cost is only .02 per word. Click

What
category of books can I submit?
We will accept all works that are
in good taste and do not promote hate
or the overthrowing any government. If
you don't see the category that fits your
work, contact support@bookstandpublishing.com.
Erotica and adult adventure is fine.
Can
I submit my book to others also?
When you submit your work to Bookstand Publishing
we get a non-exclusive license.
You can submit work to print publishers
and to our competition, if you wish. Remember
it is your work and we are here with a
tool to help you, not hinder you. Most
of our competitors will require that you
sign over the electronic right to your
book for years. Be very careful before
you give away this right with no guarantees
from other eBook sellers.
What
about An International Standard Book Number?
Included at no additional cost. ISBN
is a universal code that publishers and
booksellers use to identify and order
books. To enable authors to sell their
books in stores, we will assign International
Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) to each
PRINTED title at no additional charge
to the authors.
We
do NOT at this time issue an ISBN number
for eBooks If you have this number already
please advise us. You can include it in
the web page we create for you.
ISBN
has nothing to do with copyrights. Please
see Copyright
Office for complete information.
When
is the work put "online"?
We typically activate your book's
order page after you have approved the
printed proof and we have ordered your
initial printing. If requested, we can
activate your page with your web page
with your eBook within 5 days
from the time you approve the electronic
galley. If you have an urgent need to
have your work online by a specific date
or time, advise us and we will do everything
we can to accommodate.
What
if I did not write the work?
If you have work written by an other
author and have written permission to
publish and or distribute the work then
you can use our service. If you have memoirs
from a deceased family member we have
no objection to publishing the work. In
our registration agreement you will agree
to "hold us harmless" if you
are engaged in any legal action and or
misrepresent your ownership of the work.
Canceling
our agreement:
If you choose to retract you work
from Bookstand Publishing for any reason, send an
email to us at authorservices@bookstandpublishing.com,

do I get paid?

month. Checks that are less than $25 will
be held to accumulate.
Does
Bookstand Publishing become my agent?
We are not acting as your agent.
Think of us as a tool for you to use to
get exposure and make sales. You must
take an active part in the promotion of
your book. We will point you down the
road to success but we will not carry
you. Do not expect big royalty checks
just because the book is listed in the
system. A lot of work on your part is
required to promote your book and your
new site.
How
do I get started?
Fill in the registration
form and submit your manuscript in
our format and using MS Word or Adobe
PDF.
Your

book cover prices...
If
your formatted book is 110 pages the list
price would be $15.95 for the 5.25 x 8.25
trim size. All percentages of cost and
royalty are based on the list price. The
printing cost is approximately 50%, Author
royalty is 30% and the Bookstand Publishing production
cost is 20%.
On occasion bookstores will purchase your
book from Bookstand Publishing which would reduce
the Author royalty to 10-15% depending
on the discount percentage the bookstore
requires. Most of our authors sell directly
to their customers through bookstandpublishing.com,

Cover Art
Questions
What
about a cover for my book?
Bookstand Publishing
offers a few options for cover art.
Included
Cover Art:
Each
of our publishing packages include your
choice of cover art templates. Each
template offers a different professionally
created design. You will supply us with
the text for the back cover and an author
biography if you wish. Author photos are
optional. If you choose to include one,
the photo must be no larger than 2"
by 3" at 300dpi. Each cover will
include an ISBN bar code with the price
embedded. If you prefer another image

Author
Supplied Cover Art:
You can provide your own art work, however,
it should be to to the following specifications:
Cover
images must be 300 dpi minimum TIFF files
in CMYK mode. Covers must be .250 bigger
than finished size of the book all around.
5.25 x 8.25" book sizes require cover
art to be 5.5 x 8.5".
To
determine the "Spine Thickness"
take half the page count to determine
the number of sheets of paper and multiply
that by .0041. Example a 150 page book
has 75 sheets of paper. 75 x .0041 = .307.
.307" is the spine thickness.
The
final TIFF graphics file you send us should
contain the front, back and spine in one
file.
Using the example above the final TIFF
file would be 11.307 inches wide by 8.5
inches tall. Please make sure you leave
adequate margins to allow for the edges
to be trimmed off and appropriate placement
of your art work.
Don't forget to leave enough room for
the bar code on the back cover. You should
leave a space approximately 2 inches wide
by 1.5 inches tall. When complete and
ready to submit, please zip it and email
it to authorservices@bookstandpublishing.com or
contact us for FTP instructions.
If
you need help with your cover or need
a service to produce quality cover for
your please contact us at authorservices@bookstandpublishing.com.
